Abbey of S. Maria in Potenza
The Abbey of Santa Maria in Potenza in Porto Recanati is an amazing location for weddings and events. This old abbey boasts a very long history: it was founded in 1180 as shelter for sick people and pilgrims welcomed by Crociferi monks. During the pontificate of Pius VI it was transferred to Cistercian monks who brought it back to its former splendor.
The abbey was later seized by Napoleon who donated it to his sister Pauline, who let if fall apart until the Volpini family took it over in the early nineteenth century, and renovated the entire housing complex and reclaimed the surrounding lands.
The Abbey of Santa Maria in Potenza is surrounded by a lush garden adorned with flower beds and rose bushes and a vast 5,000 sq. m. park shaded by age-old trees. On this grassy lawn it is possible to set up gazebos and outdoor furniture for lunches, dinners or aperitifs in the open air, in a classy setting. The interiors have been renovated recently respecting the ancient structure, with bricks and vaulted ceilings.
This wonderful environment has spacious rooms that can host wedding banquets and smart company dinners. Furthermore, there is an air-conditioned room that can accommodate up to 300 people. In this enchanting place you can realize your dream and celebrate an event that will remain in your heart and in that of those who have shared this important moment with you.
